Ayushi Podder Biography


 When shooters take the rifle and aim it and aim, all important is their target. All else is a blur. When the thought of winning a lot of money in their heads, their instincts will trigger. If their years of waking upearly, putting in additional hours of training and giving up your favorite food are worth it right now. It is at this point that 19-year-old Ayushi Podder works hard!

Each time Ayushi is shooting, her aim is much more than the "Bullseye" shot. She is aiming at an Podium Finish! Each time she puts her trigger, she shoots the bullet to her dream of the Olympic medal that hangs on her neck, with the tri-colored flag flying over her.

Aayushi is a junior rifle shooter , and the newest young sensation in shooting from India to gain prominence in the field, following Manu Bhaker and Gayathri nityanadam, Mehuli Ghosh and others. Born on the 23rd day of October in 1999, Aayushi is from Sheoraphuli, Hooghly of West Bengal.

Aayushi's enthusiasm and skill in shooting comes through her father Pankaj Podder, who himself was an ex- Indian shooter as well as an International Shooting Sport Federation ( ISSF) certified qualified coach.

Schooling Days And Sacrificed Dreams

Aayushi was completely dedicated to her the study of her years during her time at Techno Indian Public School. Unexpectedly, although she had been exposed shooting at an early age, she displayed almost any passion for shooting.

At the age of seven, Aayushi was seven years old, she completed a portfolio with the hope of becoming an actor or model. She also learned to dance at a Classical Odisha style and participated in school-related events.

At the time of her life, Pankaj used to travel across the country to play in matches. Aayushi did not think that she would one day follow in his steps. As a scholar who excelled in school, Aayushi wished to study MBBS as she grew older.

Start of Shooting Career

Things changed quickly when her father requested her to try shooting. Pankaj spoke about his goal of watching his daughter follow in his steps. "When the daughter I had was only five year old, I was thinking I could make her the next shooter Olympic champion," he says.

She began training to help her father. Within seven days of being able to hold her air rifle Ayushi had already been crowned a champion in the state!

"It it was the first time I competed in a time competing but I already was a winner!" she says, her excitement clearly heard in her voice. Her first major win spurred Junior Podder to take up shooting.

And with her father's steady support that was a guarantee, she could not look back. As time passed by, Aayushi immersed herself into the sport and discovered an exciting new sport to be a bleeder for. With her determination and drive to shoot, the school's teachers and the principal began to show their support when she embarked on her new adventure.

To excel in the field of shooting an athlete requires concentration to the max. For Ayushi her concentration and focus came easily. This is the reason she was able to get excellent marks. "I'm excellent at academics. Concentration and focus are essential and these two qualities assisted me shooting quite a bit."

Ayushi also realized the importance of perfection both in her sport and in her daily life. When she was in the beginning of her working out, the father of her told herthat "Ayushi is the only one who can take a perfect sight image". These words have been very helpful to her in her international career. They've been incorporated into her brain. "Perfection is essential," she tells.

After becoming the state champion, Ayushi won the pre-national championship in junior-senior youth the month following. Within an entire time, Aayushi was able to secure her place at the Indian team camp. She was soon a part of the Asian air gun team, and within a year, she won her first international gold medal at the ISSF Junior World Cup 2016, Suhl, Germany.

Indian athletes face challenges Indian athletes

The life of an athlete India isn't as simple. It's true that Ayushi isn't an exception. She has a lot of forgotten stories to tell about her trips to various locations to compete in tournaments. One of them happened on she returned from Asian Junior Championship in Doha, Qatar.

Ayushi along with her group been able to land at 5 AM on the outskirts of New Delhi from a long and exhausting journey. This is when she learns that she will be competing in the 11 AM slot for competing in the 50m Rifle 3 Positions competition at the All India Inter-University Championship. In the midst of sleep and hunger the young shooter competed in the competition and won the bronze medal.

When she talked about the event, Ayushi opened up about her feelings without regret. She doesn't blame her lack of food or sleep for her failure. Also, she does not blame ineffective planning of the organizers.

This morning, Aayushi laughs it off. But, this is another item on a long list of organizational and structural issues that athletes have faced and are experiencing in the sporting ecosystem in India.

In the World Championship in Changwon, Korea, Ayushi had to be separated by eight days from the time she arrived until matchday. It was not possible to train during these eight days due to the scheduling of other events. Furthermore, Ayushi's gun was outdated. It was a terrible experience at the event.

And to make matters even more difficult Ayushi's father, as well as her personal coach was not able to accompany her on her travels due to financial problems. This is a common issue facing athletes in India in the present. The athletes are in financial straits to purchase equipment, travel for training, eat nutritious food and many more.

The balance between education and shooting

While juggling academics, shooting classes and traveling for occasions, Aayushi's grades in school did not drop. After graduating from high school she decided to pursue an education in Humanities which allowed her to devote her time to studying and shooting.

Presently, Ayushi Podder is pursuing an undergraduate degree in Public Administration at Punjab University at the same at the same time as she trains and participates in competitions. But, Ayushi believes that it could not have been achieved without the support of her school and the management.

Ayushi has no attendance bar because of her participation in the Sports quota. She can exercise all year long and is only required to sit for examinations. In some cases, when competitions or selections conflict with her examinations The college schedules specific dates for her to sit the test.

A one-day in the life Ayushi Podder

Like her father, Ayushi travels a lot. Through each year Ayushi takes part in at least ten national competitions. In addition, there are trials for selection, and up at least three International competitions the course of a year. In addition to her travels for different events, she frequently goes to Delhi to practice in Dr Karni Shooting range. Dr Karni Shooting range, since it's the only place in which she is able to train in the 50m categories.

Ayushi must also travel to Chandigarh to go to university frequently. Between her travels for training, competitions , and college it is difficult for her to stay in her house.

A typical day for the teenager from West Bengal begins at 5.30 am. She rises, gets fresh up, and enjoys a gentle warming-up. At 7.30 am, Aayushi is on the breakfast table. After breakfast, she departs to train.
